How to Measure Your Finger Size for a Ring

To choose the right ring, it’s important to accurately determine your finger size. Here are several methods to do so.

Method 1

Measuring with String or a Paper Strip

You will need:

  • A string, thin ribbon, or a strip of paper (about 5 mm wide)
  • A ruler
  • A pen or pencil

How to measure:

  1. Wrap the string or paper around the base of your finger.
  2. Make sure it fits snugly but doesn’t squeeze too tightly.
  3. Mark the point where the ends overlap.
  4. Unwrap and measure the length in millimeters (this is your finger’s circumference).
  5. Compare it with a ring size chart.

Method 2

Measuring with String or a Paper Strip

You will need:

  • A ring that fits you well
  • A ruler

How to measure:

  1. Place the ring on a flat surface.
  2. Measure its inner diameter in millimeters.
  3. Compare it with a ring size chart.

Tip: This method works best if the ring fits the same finger you are measuring for.

Method 3

Using a Plastic Ring Sizer or Ring Gauge

You will need:

  • A string, thin ribbon, or a strip of paper (about 5 mm wide);
  • A ruler;
  • A pen or pencil;

For the most accurate results, use:

  • A ring gauge – a set of metal or plastic rings in different sizes.
  • A finger measuring tool  – a plastic strip with size markings that works like a belt.

You can find these tools at jewelry stores.

Additional Tips:

  • Finger size may change depending on temperature and time of day. Measure at a comfortable temperature.
  • If your measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger one to avoid a tight fit.

Now you can easily determine your ring size and find the perfect fit!
